The New Glenn rocket made a successful flight into space
As we previously announced, the large private American rocket New Glenn was finally launched into space this January.
It was the first successful launch of a large rocket by Blue Origin, owned by Jeff Bezos. The return of the first stage of the rocket to the unmanned vessel did not succeed, but that was not even a priority in this launch.
What we have to understand, although the title of the article does not outline it to the right extent, with this launch things in and around space are very much changing.
Blue Origin is not exposed to the public, unlike SpaceX, for example.
But their access to space technologies, the potential for the near and further future is enormous. The New Glenn rocket was awaited for several years.
Not in vain, behind the anticipation and delay of the launch “hides” an exceptional and carefully planned work plan for the coming years.
New Glenn is a real smoke among rockets, and only its heavy versions, and they are even bigger than the historic Saturn V rocket, with which the Americans landed their astronauts on the moon in the 1970s.
Yes, the New Glenn is a rocket for big things!
The launch itself was carried out from launch complex 36C, at the Cape Canaveral launch pad (Florida, USA). Thursday (16.01.2025), New Glenn started its journey into space.
The payload was the “Blue Ring” module, which is intended to redistribute payloads up to a total mass of 3,000 kg to various orbits, including those towards the Moon as desired by the user.
The rocket is 98m high, seven meters in diameter, has two rocket stages, and can carry a payload of over 45,000kg into low Earth orbit!
All this with maximum adaptability and a lower price than any competition.
We must be honest and say that this rocket has no real competition!
It was named after the first American astronaut in space, John Glenn (February 20, 1962).
