Cassini Spacecraft has been a topic of wonder and delight since it was launched in 1997 with one mission encoded in its system; to reach and study Saturn. As of July 1st, 2004, Cassini has been orbiting the ringed-planet and sending back stunning images we here on Earth may never have gotten the privilege of seeing without NASA’s marvel of technology. Christmas is a great season to gather friends, family, co-workers and even the neighbors together for holiday fun and festivities. Traditional holiday parties have been a favorite for years; however, they have come a long way since I was a child. I remember my parent’s Christmas parties consisted of phone calls to the invitee’s, an assortment of alcohol and various finger foods placed in bowls and plates on our dining room table. No fuss, just good Christmas cheer.

NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has been orbiting Saturn now for over a decade and has been the one responsible for snapping some incredible images. But on September 24th 2015, Cassini was at the “right place at exactly the right time” as we are now enjoying the photo of Saturn’s two moons, Enceladus and Tethys, in almost perfect alignment.

There is just something about a Christmas snow globe that I can’t resist. Everytime I see one I feel compelled to give it a vigorous shake. To my delight, I’m never disappointed with the gentle sprinkling of “snow” or glitter that showers down on the figurine inside. However, strangely enough, I don’t actually own one of these orbs-of-entertainment… until now. And the best part is I made it myself and so can you!

When I was growing up, my school took a half hour each morning, a couple of weeks before Christmas, to have us all gather in the gymnasium to sing Christmas songs. It was a great way to get into the spirit of the holidays (not that I needed it) and also a great way to stop the teaching time. This is no longer a practice where I live, but the memories will always be with me.

One of the best parts of Christmas is decorating the tree. Growing up, my mother was very meticulous about how the family tree would be trimmed and we soon learned the “proper” way to do this task; garland first, small ornaments at the top, larger near the bottom, the tinsel last.
